In this mini-lesson, students learn about gold, its history, where it comes from, and just how rare it is.
Here are some writing prompts to help students reflect on the mini-lesson. Feel free to copy and paste them into an assignment.
Bonus Activity: Gold is worth a lot because there is so little of it in the world – it’s rare. Objects that are rare are special. Ask an adult to go on a nature walk with you and look for something that’s rare. Maybe it’s a type of flower you’ve never seen before. Or a leaf with an interesting pattern. Choose one rare object and make a detailed drawing of it.
