In this mini-lesson, students will learn about the history of astronomy and the discovery of planets.
Here are some writing prompts to help students reflect on the mini-lesson. Feel free to copy and paste them into an assignment.
Bonus Activity: Scientists decided that Pluto wasn't a major planet when they saw other small planets near it. Find something that is too far away to see clearly. It can be in your home or outside. Draw a picture of what the object looks like from far away. Is it all one color? Can you see what it's made of? Now go and take a closer look. Draw it again. What do you see up close that you couldn't see from far away?
