In this mini-lesson, students learn about different types of trees and why some lose their leaves in fall, while others do not.
Here are some writing prompts to help students reflect on the mini-lesson. Feel free to copy and paste them into an assignment.
Bonus Activity: In places where it gets cold in winter, many trees will lose their leaves in the fall. But there are places around the world where it doesn't get cold in winter. Plants in those places keep their leaves all year. Even though plants stay the same, there may be other changes. What is fall like where you live? Does the weather change? Do you notice a change in when it gets dark at night? Do you notice different animals or animal sounds? Draw a picture (or write a list) of how things are different between summer and fall where you live.
