In this mini-lesson, students explore if all places in the world experience the classic four seasons of summer, fall, winter, and spring.
Here are some writing prompts to help students reflect on the mini-lesson. Feel free to copy and paste them into an assignment.
Bonus Activity: The 4 classic season symbols of a snowflake (winter), a flower (spring), a sun (summer), and a leaf (fall) don’t match what seasons are like in all places. Seasons can look and feel different depending on where you live. What are the seasons like where you live? Winter near you might get really rainy. Or maybe it makes you think of hot chocolate! Write down what each season looks and feels like. Then, draw new symbols that represent the seasons near you. Try to come up with different symbols than the 4 classic ones. Then, share with a friend and see what symbols they came up with.
