In the Performance Task, students engage in evidence-based argumentation to explain why one of the planets in our solar system would be best to visit for themselves, a friend, or a family member. They apply what they have learned throughout the unit about the physical characteristics of the planets to complete this task. At the end of the slides, you can choose what you would like for your students to do next. They can use their Solar System Trip Planner to create a fully written letter as a writing task, or create a presentation, or create a poster. In addition to the information contained within the lessons in this unit, you can provide your students with books, websites, or other resources that they can use to gather information about the various planets and moons within our solar system. While not necessary, it is a great opportunity for students to extend the depth and breadth of their knowledge.
