For the first part of the activity, find a place to hang the Statement Stella poster and the Question Quinn poster where everyone can see them. B&W and color versions are provided.
The read-aloud has narration, but you are encouraged to give your students additional instructions or commentary throughout the story. For example, you can ask students to act out the character’s actions from their seats (such as dancing, petting a dog, or eating cake). You might also prime them for later learning by drawing their attention to the end punctuation of the questions and statements, or thinking aloud about how the characters speak differently.
